ABOUT DAMIAN'S DOMINION

About this site's creator

I am Ann, also known at Yahoo Groups Damian Lewis (YGDL) as "damiandreamer." This site may almost appear as if it is my full-time occupation, but it's not. I have a well-established, full-time career as a writer of consumer-oriented educational information for the financial industry.

I've never had any training in Web design or programming languages such as HTML or JavaScript. I'm totally self-taught, and much of my skill has developed over the time since I started developing this site. That's been an added benefit for me, as I love being able to flex my creative muscles, to learn new skills and to explore computer technology. (Should I switch to a career in Web design? The thought has crossed my mind lately. ...)

Okay, I won't bore you with hoards of details about me and my background. Besides, one has to be careful about offering up too much personal information on the Internet. So on that note, I'll shift the focus to Damian. ...

My introduction to Damian Lewis

I don't think I could retell my introduction to Damian Lewis (on screen, that is!) better than I did in my first post at YGDL when I became a YGDL member on April 21, 2004:

"I'm new to the group today, and also very new to Damian. Hadn't even heard of him as of about three weeks ago. Then I caught Dreamcatcher on Cinemax April 3. He caught my attention, and I enjoyed his performance immensely. I watched the credits and made a mental note of his name. Then I noticed in my TV guide a few days later that Band of Brothers was going to be on the History Channel starting April 11. I had never seen it, and I was not even aware that Damian was in it. Even when I sat down to watch episode 1, I still didn't know Damian was in it ... until I saw him on screen and thought to myself, "Isn't that the guy who was in that movie I saw a week or so ago?" I quickly realized it was him. ... I found myself so drawn to him in so many ways. ... Over the past several days, I've been surfing the Web looking for photos, articles, and groups like this one. ... I have a feeling it will take me a while to catch up (as much as I can) on all I have missed by "finding" Damian so late in the game. But I'll get there, and I'll enjoy the ride. And I look forward to being part of this group and to the wonderful career and life that I expect is in store for Damian."

How this site began

The Damian's Dominion site began simply as The Damian Digest. That page, now part of the Damian's Dominion site, was launched on August 4, 2004. And at that time, I was not planning to develop other pages. But that quickly changed. I received so much wonderful feedback about The Damian Digest from the members of YGDL that on August 8, 2004, I decided to take it further and launch Damian's Dominion. My creative passion kicked in at full force. I began exploring page design ideas, greatly expanding my self-taught computer skills. And, well, you can see for yourself what has resulted.

I am having so much fun working on this site. It doesn't even seem right to call it work, as it is truly a labor of love. I mean that in the sense that I love exploring the creative possibilities of Web design, and I love learning new Web design skills in the process. And, of course, it should go without saying that the subject matter offers me no shortage of enjoyment!

It is exciting to me that, through this site, I may be able to play some small part in broadening the world's observation of, and recognition of, Damian Lewis and his exceptional talents. It is indeed an honor, privilege and pleasure to do whatever I may do to help more people discover the enjoyment and enrichment that Damian and his work may bring to their lives -- as he has to mine.

A message to Damian
should he or any of his associates happen to visit this site
(hey, I can dream, can't I?)

Dear Damian,

I hope you realize how much enjoyment you bring to your audiences, and especially your fans. You truly have raised the bar -- setting a substantially higher standard for other performers. My first encounter with your work took place this spring, when I happened upon Dreamcatcher and Band of Brothers on television. Since then, I have been fortunate to see most of your prior film and television work, and to listen to some of your audio work. Each performance -- indeed, each production overall -- has been outstanding. I used to think I knew what good entertainment was, and what a good performance was. You have single-handedly elevated my previous standards in those areas significantly. You enrich the world of the arts -- and you enrich my life and, I'm sure, the lives of so many others.

THANK YOU SO MUCH for all you do, for who you are, and for what's yet to come. I truly wish you all the best in your life and your career that the world can offer.

And if by chance you ever seek to set up an official Web site, please keep me in mind. I'd be thrilled and honored to work on it in any capacity at all and on any terms at all. For that matter, if there is ever anything that I and your fans in general can ever do for you, just say the word and consider it done. I -- indeed all of us -- are there for you.

Yours Truly,
Ann
