PROJECT GALLE

Shortly after the tsunami struck Southeast Asia in 2005, a member of Yahoo Groups: Damian Lewis posted a message suggesting the idea of making a collective donation from the group on behalf of Damian. This suggestion from just one individual prompted a handful of other members (myself included) to begin researching and brainstorming on how we could accomplish this as a unit.
Word spread, and we were fortunate to receive input from Damian himself through a liaison. A charity preferred by Damian was chosen: Project Galle (which was called Project Galle 2005 at that time). And a donation system was set up whereby our individual contributions were recorded as coming from Damian's fan community.
We took a seedling of an idea and cultivated it into an effort with far-reaching potential. The Yahoo Groups: Damian Lewis campaign has since ended, but Project Galle forges on, and the work has only begun -- for the people in Southeast Asia and those of us around the globe who can help support their efforts with our contributions.
