May 17, 2010: New information about Damian's new film, Will
An article today from Screen International shares some details about Damian's upcoming film, Will. For starters, the film is about an orphan’s journey across Europe to the 2005 Champions League final in Istanbul, Turkey. (Young newcomer Perry Eggelton plays the title role.) It's already in production, with filming locations such as Liverpool, Kent and Hertfordshire's Elstree Studios in the UK, as well as Paris and Turkey, including Istanbul's Atatürk Olympic Stadium. A few more cast members have been announced as well, including Bob Hoskins. Although we've known for a month that Damian's character in this project is Gareth, we still have no details about this character. Hopefully, more information will surface soon.

May 15, 2010: Damian has a new film project - Man Is Wolf To Man
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Damian will be filming the action thriller Man Is Wolf To Man in South America this autumn. The film, inspired by true events, is set in French Guyana in 1934 and follows a group of six prisoners who escape from a French penal colony only to be pursued by a notorious bounty hunter. The role Damian will play has not yet been announced, but based on the information about the story and characers detailed at the film's official site, it is highly likely that he will portray Rafael, a former Foreign Legion soldier and the story's hero who, after just having been released from a two-year term in solitary confinement, is a physically and mentally broken prisoner until fate offers him a chance of freedom. At present, the film is expected to be released in 2011.

An article today from Tribuna Connecticut shares further details: "The Film Fest couldn't get enough of last year's Audience Favorite Award Winner, "The Baker," staring an A-list of British talent featuring Damian Lewis (NBC's "Life" & "Band Of Brothers"). When given the choice of films for the evening, there was no second-guessing. Non-profit partner The Bethel Library Building Fund decided with big smiles all around, "The Baker". Doors open 6:30, show time 7:30 immediately followed by a reception with music by Jeff Preston, complete with a Shakespeare Cake Competition."

April 17, 2010: Damian has a new project!
According to IMDB, Damian will play the character "Gareth" in a forthcoming film project entitled Will, and IMDB indicates a cinematic release in 2012. Very little information is available about the project, but what is known is here. A bit of fun trivia: This film features two characters that have the same first names as Damian's real-life brothers, Gareth and Will -- although this is surely just a coincidence. (This film is not a Russell-Lewis family biography.) Also, this marks the third film in which Damian will have played a character named Gareth or Gary (the other two being Gary "Jonesy" Jones in Dreamcatcher and Gary in An Unfinished Life).

March 14, 2020: Several clues suggest that Love And Virtue will indeed be filmed very soon
In November 2009, Screen Daily reported that Love And Virtue would go into production by early summer 2010, and that Damian was still "committed to the film" as were Jonathan Rhys Meyers, John Malkovich, Daryl Hannah and director Raoul Ruiz. (See the news entry for November 18, 2009.) That was the last news on the resurfacing of this on-again-off-again project ... until some more recent information (from January and February 2010)) was found today: In late January, the British Council updated its entry for Love And Virtue on its Britfilms website, listing the status of the film as "in production." (Now, we all know that Damian had been busy with The Misanthrope from well before that date until yesterday. So either that status is erroneous, or perhaps the film is in pre-production, or filming of scenes not including Damian may have been taking place.) In late February, Cineuropa reported that Love And Virtue has was among a group of film projects selected in December or January to receive financial support via the French international tax credit. So, it's looking more and more likely that this project will at long last come to fruition!
