February 22, 2010: Your Highness test screening well received
According to an article from Slash Film today, a test screening of Your Highness took place on February 18, 2010 in Burbank, California, and most of the audience "buzz" (um, no pun intended! LOL!) was very positive -- lots of "high" praise (gosh, the puns are easy for this film!). But seriously, the film was well received by the test-screening audience. Your Highness is scheduled to be released in cinemas in the US on October 1, 2010.

February 8, 2010: Site hiatus extended due to continuing computer issues
The severe computer problems have not yet been resolved. Thus, I am unable to completely update the sites yet -- and probably won't be able to for another week or two. In the meantime, I have updated what's been possible given my currently very limited computer/Internet access and will continue to do so as time and computer/Internet access permit. Details on updates are below.

February 8, 2010: The Misanthrope nominated for three Olivier Awards
The nominations for this year's Laurence Olivier Awards have been announced, and The Misanthrope has received three nominations: The play is nominated in the category of Best Revival, Keira Knightley is nominated for Best Actress In A Supporting Role, and Amy Roberts is nominated for Best Costume Design. The Laurence Olivier Awards will be presented to the winners in a ceremony at Grosvenor House in London on March 21, 2010. Congratulations to the nominees!

February 8, 2010: The Small Back Room returns to BBC Radio 4
On February 6, 2010, BBC Radio 4 presented an encore of Damian's 2008 radio drama The Smal Back Room. Unfortunately, technical issues prevented a timely announcement here about the replay. However, there is good news: The programme is available for online listening from anywhere in the world here anytime from now until approximately 3:30 pm (UK time) on February 13, 2010.

February 8, 2010: The Baker returns to Connecticut Film Festival
The Baker will be screened on February 12, 2010, at the Connecticut Film Festival, which takes place in Old Saybrook, CT, February 12-14, 2010. This is an encore screening in honor of the film: The Baker was screened at this festival in 2009 and won the festival's Audience Favorite Award.

February 8, 2010: Damian to participate in the Prostate Cancer Charity London Ride in September
Damian has signed on to participate in the Prostate Cancer Charity London Ride cycling fundraiser event, which takes place in London on September 18, 2010. Damian took part in this event last September, with Manon and Gulliver taking turns riding in the back seat of his bike and Helen cheering them on.

January 7, 2010: Wimbledon Film Club to screen Chromophobia next week
Chromophobia will be screened at 8 pm (UK time) at the Wimbledon Odeon in London as part of the Wimbledon Film Club's Wonderful Films programme. Director Martha Fiennes is scheduled to attend to introduce the film and participate in a post-screening Q&A.

January 7, 2010: First photo from Your Highness released
Universal pictures has released the first official image from Your Highness. It shows James Franco, Zooey Deschanel and Danny McBride in what appears to be one of the final scenes of the film -- so heed the spoiler warning if you decide to view the image. Unfortunately, no images of Damian have been released yet, so his look in the film -- as well as his character's name and further details about his role in the story -- remain a mystery ... for now.

November 18, 2009: Love And Virtue (finally!) going into production next summer
The on-again-off-again film project Love And Virtue is reportedly on again, according to a recent Screen Daily article. Best of all, the article reports that Damian remains "committed to the film" as do Jonathan Rhys Meyers, John Malkovich, Daryl Hannah and director Raoul Ruiz. The project is expected to go into production in early summer 2010.

November 14, 2009: Enter to possibly win Damian's or Helen's recycled clothing
Damian and Helen each recently donated a jacket to Camden Council in support of the Council's joint campaign with TRAID (Textile Recycling for Aid and International Development) to raise awareness of the urgent need to reduce the amount of textile waste sent to landfills. As part of the campaign, Camden Council held Wardrobe Re-Vamping Workshops at the Swiss Cottage Library and Gallery on November 12, 2009, during which the clothing items donated by Damian, Helen and other celebrities were restyled and turned into high street fashion pieces and accessories. Damian's leather and denim jacket has been turned into a handbag, and Helen's red velvet jacket has been given a military look. Now, those and other items are to be given out by the Camden Council in a prize drawing. To enter for a chance to win one of the items, entrants must pledge to do something to benefit the environment. Click here to view the items and to enter the drawing.

November 12, 2009: Slight date change for the debut of The Misanthrope
Previously, The Misanthrope was to begin preview performances on the evening of Monday, December 7, 2009. That has changed slightly with the addition of one earlier preview performance on the evening of Saturday, December 5, 2009. The official opening night is still Monday, December 17, 2009, and the closing date for the London run remains Saturday, March 13, 2009, as before.

November 7, 2009: The Escapist to be released on DVD in the US in January

November 6, 2009: Number 10 premieres next Friday
Series 3 of Number 10, in which Damian joins the cast as newly elected Prime Minister Simon Laity, will premiere with the first of five weekly episodes on BBC Radio 4 at 2:15 pm (UK time) on Friday, November 13, 2009. The first episode is entitled "Be A Good Chap ...". Anyone in the world may listen online at the time of broadcast here or anytime during the subsequent seven days here.

November 6, 2009: Damian and Helen donate jackets in support of clothes-recycling campaign
Damian and Helen have each donated a jacket to Camden Council in support of the Council's joint campaign with TRAID (Textile Recycling for Aid and International Development) to raise awareness of the urgent need to reduce the amount of textile waste sent to landfills. As part of the campaign, Camden Council is holding Wardrobe Re-Vamping Workshops at the Swiss Cottage Library and Gallery on November 12, 2009. At the event, designers from TRAID will provide tips and techniques to adjust, update and revamp old clothes, providing a stylish alternative to buying new. The clothing items donated by Damian, Helen and other celebrities will be restyled and turned into high street fashion pieces and accessories.

October 30, 2009: Damian and The Misanthrope might cross the pond to Broadway
In his Daily Mail column today, columnist Baz Bamigboye suggests that The Misanthrope might possibly transfer to Broadway after completing its London run in March. He says, "Theatre owners and producers from New York have already been on to the London producers, asking to transfer the production -- with Keira and Damian -- to New York." He then adds that it's primarily "up to Damian whether it goes or not, as he's the lead. Keira has told friends she's very much a company player."

The Escapist will be screened on Thursday, October 29, 2009, and Saturday, October 31, 2009, at the New British Film Festival, which takes place from October 28, 2009, through November 4, 2009, in Moscow, Russia. Rupert Wyatt and Brian Cox are scheduled to attend Thursday's screening and participate in a Q&A discussion of the film.

October 13, 2009: Damian takes the helm at Number 10
No, he hasn't been elected Prime Minister in real life, but Damian is portraying a fictional British Prime Minister in the forthcoming third series of the BBC 4 Radio drama Number 10. Damian recently finished recording his performance (in between working on the film Your Highness), but broadcast dates for the radio series have not yet been announced.

October 13, 2009: Damian has signed on for next summer's Soccer Aid
In June 2010, Damian will once again take to the pitch in Soccer Aid. He took part in the 2006 Soccer Aid pro-celebrity charity match for UNICEF at Old Trafford, playing skillfully and helping bring his team, team England, to victory over the opponent, team Rest Of The World. October 9, 2009: Damian takes to the London stage in The Misanthrope this winter
Damian will play the title role in The Misanthrope at the Comedy Theatre in London's West End this winter. In a modernized version of the 17th century Moliere play, Damian portays Alceste, a well-known British playwright who is disillusioned and angry with the hypocrisy, shallowness and vanity of the contemporary world, and who vows to reject society. Alceste's plans are derailed when he falls madly in love with Jennifer, an ambitious American film star and darling of the social scene. Costarring in the production are Keira Knightley, Tara Fitzgerald, Dominic Rowan and Tim McMullan. Preview performances begin December 7, 2009. Opening night is December 17, 2009, with performances continuing through March 13, 2010.

October 8, 2009: The Baker being shown in scattered US cinemas this month
The Baker will be released in select cinemas Kansas City, MO, this weekend. It also will be released in select cinemas in Portland, OR, on October 23, 2009. If you live in the US, keep a watchful eye on listings for your local cinemas -- you never know if and where The Baker may suddenly appear!

October 8, 2009: The Escapist being released on DVD for rental in the US
The Escapist will be available for rental on DVD exclusively from Blockbuster stores and Blockbuster.com beginning Saturday, October 10, 2009. A release date for purchasing the region 1 DVD in the US has not yet been announced. But it is likely (based on similar arrangements IFC Films has made in the past) that the DVD should be available for purchase within approximately the next three to six months.

October 7, 2009: Vox in Germany plans to show all of Life season two this time around
Back in June, when the Vox television network in Germany finished showing the first six episodes of season two of Life, the network began replaying season one instead of completing season two. They are currently replaying the early episodes of season two and this time, there is good news: After they finish presenting those first six episodes of season two on October 21, 2009, Vox will continue showing the remaining episodes of season two (episodes 7 through 21) beginning October 28, 2009, and (presumably) continuing through January 28, 2010. Episodes are presented on Wednesday nights at approximately 9:10 pm (Germany time). Sometimes the start time varies slightly, so check local listings each week.

October 7, 2009: Life currently being presented on Czech television
It has just been learned that the Prima television network in the Czech Republic began presenting season one of Life on September 15, 2009. Episodes are presented at 10:25 pm (Czech time) on Tuesday nights. The next episode to be shown will be episode 5, "The Fallen Woman", on Tuesday, October 13, 2009.

October 7, 2009: The Escapist to screen at International Film Fest in Michigan this weekend
The Escapist will be screened on Saturday, October 10, 2009, as part of the one-day IFC International Film Fest, which takes place on October 10, 2009 at the Harbor Theater in Muskegon, Michigan. The film will also screen post-festival at the same location on October 11-12, 2009.
