A: The process of taking a film or television project from the initial idea stage to completion is long (often taking up to two years or longer) and complex, with numerous negotiations (creative and business) between the many parties involved, such as writers, producers, directors, actors, studios, distributors, financial backers and more. Sometimes a project fails to get studio backing, full funding or a distribution deal, so its production is delayed (until a studio commits to it, or the necessary funding can be acquired, or distributors can be secured) or it is cancelled entirely.
