The special encore screening of The Baker at the Connecticut Film Festival on May 6, 2010, will be served with a bounty of enthusiasm and even a Shakespeare Cake Competition! This "new script by Gareth Lewis" is for a feature film entitled Father Figure, which Gareth also plans to direct. Gareth has also created, written and directed a Webseries entitled The Fantasist for Pure Grass Films and the BBC. (Details regarding its online presentation are not yet available.) In addition, Gareth is involved as a cowriter (along with Phil Traill) of a sitcom entitled Life And Stuff, which reportedly has been picked up for development by a major US television network.

June 15, 2009: The Baker to be released in US cinemas soon
A few weeks ago (see the news for May 21, 2009), news surfaced that The Baker would be screening in Kansas City, MO, this summer. At the time, it was unclear whether this would be for a local film festival or a general US cinematic release. Well, news has surfaced indicating that after a string of film-festival screenings around the country this spring and summer, The Baker will indeed, and at long last, receive a US cinematic release through the distributor Panorama Entertainment. Thus far this spring, The Baker has screened at the Sedona International Film Festival (February 24 - March 1, 2009, Sedona, AZ) on February 25 and 28, 2009; the EU Film Festival (March 6 - April 2, 2009, Chicago, IL) on March 21 and 23, 2009; the Worldfest Houston International Film & Video Festival (April 17-26, 2009, Houston, TX) on April 25, 2009, where it won the Gold Remi Award for Editing and the Special Jury Remi Award for a Theatrical Feature Film; the Connecticut Film Festival (June 2-7, 2009, Danbury, CT) on June 4 and 5, 2009; and the Waterfront Film Festival (June 11-14, 2009, Saugatuck, MI) on June 12 and 14, 2009. A cinematic release date has not yet been announced -- but hopefully will be soon. In the meantime, since the screenings earlier this month in both Danbury and Saugatuck unfortunately slipped by our radar (due to insufficient publicity), it's a must to closely watch any local film festivals in your area in case The Baker is included among the films screened.

February 29, 2008: @#$%! film critics
I've read a few reviews of The Baker from some of the major UK newspapers this morning. Suffice it to say I will neither quote their rubbish nor mention their names. ... I don't know what these reviewers' problems are. I have the Hungarian DVD of this film, and I love it. (And I look forward to receiving the UK edition of the DVD, with all of its extra features, shortly.) And, no, this is not bias talking. Even if I had absolutely no clue who Gareth and Damian were, I'd still love this film. I am certain of it! I'm making a plea to those of you who are going to see The Baker at the Ritzy today or this week, or who will get the DVD: Please go to sites like IMDB's page for The Baker, Amazon UK's page for The Baker, other movie and DVD sites, and anywhere in the blogosphere, and post reviews if you like the film -- which, no doubt, you will! This is a wonderful, hilarious, brilliant film and it deserves to be seen and enjoyed by people around the world.

February 21, 2008: Gareth's brilliantly funny article in The Guardian
