Helen has been supportive of several charitable causes over the years. If you would like to follow Helen's example, following are some suggestions for your consideration:
The Actors Centre
Helen and Damian attended the Josephine Hart Poetry Hour in January 2006 to benefit The Actors Centre. Helen participated as a reader in Josephine Hart Poetry Hour events in October 2005, January 2006, and with Damian in May 2009, all to benefit the Actors Centre. Damian participated as a reader in Josephine Hart Poetry Hour events in September 2005, February 2006, June 2007, March 2008 and May 2010 as well.
Almeida Theatre
Helen and Damian attended "A Chain Play" fundraising benefit for this theatre in March 2007.
Barnardo's
Helen and daughter Manon took part in Barnardo's Big Toddle in June 2008 to benefit this charity which provides help and support to disadvantaged children and their families. Helen, Damian, Manon and Gulliver took part in Barnardo's Big Toddle in May 2009 as well.
Breakthrough Breast Cancer
Breakthrough Breast Cancer seeks to save lives through enabling and ensuring access to improvements in breast cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment. In autumn 2010, Helen took part in the Too Many Women campaign in conjunction with Ralph Lauren, the Pink Pony Fund and Marie Claire magazine, to encourage women to buy and wear Ralph Laurne Pink Pony T-shirts to promote awareness and raise money for Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
The British Library
Helen and Damian attended the Josephine Hart Poetry Hour in January 2006 to benefit The British Library. Damian participated as a reader in Josephine Hart Poetry Hour events in September 2005, February 2006, June 2007 and March 2008 as well.
Cinema & Television Benevolent Fund
Helen and Damian attended the Royal Film Performance screening of Hugo in November 2011 to benefit this organization that helps provide financial support to cinema and television industry employees and their families in need.
Elton John AIDS Foundation
Helen and Damian attended the White Tie & Tiara Ball in June 2007 to benefit the Elton John AIDS Foundation, a nonprofit organization which supports innovative HIV/AIDS prevention education programs and direct care and support services to people living with HIV/AIDS.
Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity (GOSHCC)
Helen and Damian attended the Formula One (F1) Party At Victoria & Albert Museum in June 2009 to benefit the Great Ormond Street Hosiptal Children's Charity (GOSHCC). Helen and Damian attended the Mummy Rocks Party At Bloomsbury Ballroom in March 2010 to benefit this charity. Damian participated in a celebrity cricket match at Crouch End in September 2006 to benefit this organization.
Human Rights Watch
Helen participated in Cries From The Heart: The Iron Rice Bowl at the Royal Court Theatre in June 2011 to benefit this organization, which one of the world’s leading independent organizations dedicated to defending and protecting human rights.
Live8
Helen attended the Live8 concert and after-show party in July 2005 to benefit this charitable movement against poverty.
Macmillan Cancer Support
Helen and Damian participated in the Celebrity Christmas Stocking Auction and attended the Guards Chapel Carol Concert in December 2011 to benefit this organization which provides practical, medical and financial support and works to improve cancer care.
Marie Curie Cancer Care
Helen and Damian participated as readers in the Carols in the City event in December 2011 to benefit Marie Curie Cancer Care and the vital work of the Marie Curie Nurses.
The Millione Foundation
In September 2010, Helen attended the Millione Wine Launch Party as part of the Millione Foundation's One In A Millione campaign to raise money for the construction of community-run primary schools in Sierra Leone, West Africa. For every bottle of Millione sold, £1 goes toward this cause. The goal is to raise £1 million -- enough to build 20 new schools and educate 10,000 children annually.
Mind
Helen and Damian attended the Mind Mental Health Media Awards in November 2009 to benefit this organization that provides information, support and development of services promoting good mental health.
The Moonbeam Trust
Helen and Damian are among the donors to this organization that helps raise money for fetal medical care and research.
Old Vic New Voices
Helen participated in, and Damian attended, the Old Vic's 24 Hour Plays in November 2009 to help raise funds for the Old Vic Theatre's Old Vic New Voices program. Through its various projects, Old Vic New Voices helps support young and emerging talent develop new theatre works for production.
Pink Pony Fund
The Pink Pony Fund is a worldwide initiative dedicated to providing support to programs for the education, screening, early diagnosis, and research of breast cancer and other women's cancers. Helen and Damian attended the Berkeley Square Ball in July 2005 to benefit this organization.
Queenswood School
An alumna of Queenswood School (i.e., an "Old Queenswoodian"), Helen was honored in March 2006 with the dedication and gala opening of the McCrory Studio at the Clarissa Farr Theatre at Queenswood School.
Rainbow Trust Children's Charity
Helen and Damian attended the Shooting Stars in Desert Nights Benefit in London in June 2009 to benefit this organization which provides practical and emotional support to families who have a child with a life threatening or terminal illness.
Royal Court Theatre
Helen attended the Royal Court Theatre 50th Anniversary Party in April 2006 to benefit this theatre. Helen and Damian also took part in A Tribute To Look Back In Anger at this theatre in May 2006 to benefit this theatre.
Sargent Cancer Care For Children
Helen attended An Evening At Sanderson in July 2005 to benefit this organization.
Scene & Heard
Helen and Damian are patrons of this charity, which is a unique mentoring project that partners the inner-city children of Somers Town, London, with volunteer theatre professionals, providing each child who participates with quality one-on-one adult attention and an experience of personal success through the process of writing and performing plays. In October 2010, Helen performed in a play with Damian at a fundraising event to benefit Scene & Heard, featuring an auction, raffle and performances of children's plays, at the 20th Century Theatre in Notting Hill.
Starlight Children's Foundation
Helen and Damian attended the London premiere of Casanova in February 2006 to benefit the Starlight Children's Foundation.
Too Many Women
Too Many Women is a campaign that aims to raise over £1 million for Breakthrough Breast Cancer. In autumn 2010, Helen took part in the Too Many Women campaign in conjunction with Ralph Lauren, the Pink Pony Fund and Marie Claire magazine, to encourage women to buy and wear Ralph Laurne Pink Pony T-shirts to promote awareness and raise money for Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
TRAID (Textile Recycling for Aid and International Development)
In November 2009, Helen and Damian each donated a jacket to Camden Council in support of the Council's joint campaign with TRAID to raise awareness of the urgent need to reduce the amount of textile waste sent to landfills. As part of the campaign, designers from TRAID conducted workshops to provide tips and techniques to adjust, update and revamp old clothes, providing a stylish alternative to buying new. The clothing items donated by Helen, Damian and other celebrities were restyled and turned into high street fashion pieces and accessories. TRAID's three main objectives are to protect the environment by diverting clothes and shoes from landfil, to reduce world poverty by raising funds for overseas development projects, and to educate the UK public on environmental and world poverty issues.
UNICEF (United Nations Children's Fund)
Helen attended a UNICEF-benefit performance of, and preshow party for, Guys And Dolls in November 2005.
Young Vic Theatre
Helen participated in the topping out ceremony for the Young Vic in June 2005.
