March 20, 2014: Helen to portray Medea at the National this summer
The National Theatre has announced that Helen will perform the title role in their upcoming stage production of Euripides' Greek tragedy Medea. Performance will take place at the National's Olivier Theatre from sometime in July through sometime in September 2014 (dates not yet announced). In addition a live performance on September 4, 2014, will be presented at select cinemas around the world via the National Theatre Live simulcast programme. (Venues not yet announced.) Further details should be announced very soon, since tickets for the production and the cinematic simulcast go on sale April 17, 2014. Note: This production most likely will not interfere with Helen's ability to portray Julia Grant in To Appomattox. I contacted writer and producer Michael Frost Beckner regarding the potential conflict, and he replied that they most likely will be able to accommodate her schedule so that she can manage both projects. Keep your fingers crossed, everyone!

February 13, 2014: To Appomattox Kickstarter campaign to start soon, and a new sign suggests that Helen and Damian will portray their intended roles
Within the next few weeks the Kickstarter campaign for To Appomattox will be launched. Today, the miniseries' producer Michael Frost Beckner mentioned just a couple of the contribution incentives that will be offered with the campaign, and one of those incentives will be a frock coat that Damian will wear in the miniseries. The announcement of this incentive helps solidify the prospect that Damian, and most likely Helen, will indeed be portraying Janes B. McPherson and Julia Grant in the miniseries as planned all along. (No announcement as of yet for rewards linked to Helen or her character, but only a couple of rewards were mentioned in passing. When the Kickstarter launches, full details will be released.) If the Kickstarter campaign is successful, plans currently are for the miniseries to begin filming in late June or July of 2014.
