July 23, 2010: DVD release dates for 4.3.2.1 in UK and The Special Relationship in the US announced
After a long wait, today brings news of DVD release dates of not one but two of Helen's recent projects: The UK DVD release date for 4.3.2.1 has been fine-tuned from yesterday's vague "October 2010" to October 4, 2010, and The Special Relationship will be released on DVD in the US on November 30, 2010. (Yes, that's more than two months after the DVD release date in the UK, which makes no sense because The Special Relationship premiered on US television at least four months before it will make its UK television debut. Go figure!)

The BBC 2 television network in the UK has announced that The Special Relationship will make its UK premiere when it is presented on BBC 2 during the autumn/winter of 2010/11. Given that the film still has a UK DVD release date of September 27, 2010, it is almost certain now that it will be presented in September, most likely during the weekend of September 25-26 (as was previously speculated on this site last week). As for the DVD release in the US, no date has been announced yet -- but hopefully it will be soon.

Most likely, the film will be presented on one of the BBC television networks in September, possibly the weekend of September 25-26 -- but this is pure speculation at this point. Meanwhile, in the US, although the region 1 (US) version of the DVD is has been available for pre-order for a few weeks now, no release date has been announced for it yet. Hopefully, the missing release information for this project on both sides of the pond will surface sometime soon!

June 18, 2010: The Special Relationship to be released in Australian cinemas in August
The Special Relationship will be released in cinemas in Australia on August 5, 2010. As for the UK, a presentation/release date has not yet been announced, and the news is conflicting and confusing: Some sources erroneously claim the film was released in the UK in cinemas back on May 7, 2010, and most other sources say that the film will be presented on television in the UK "soon" and also will be released in cinemas in other countries. That seems to be coming true, given the announcement of the Australian cinematic release. Here's hoping the BBC will make up its mind and announce a date for the UK soon! Meanwhile, the DVD is already available for pre-order in the US (although a DVD release date for the US has not yet been announced). As further details of cinematic, television and/or DVD distribution of The Special Relationship surfaceare, they will be posted here. Meanwhile, those of you in the UK may want to keep a watchful eye on your local television and cinema listings.

The film, based on a children's book, will be made in 3-D, will be filmed in Paris and London, and already is tentatively scheduled to be released in US cinemas on December 9, 2011. Doctor Who: The Vampires Of Venice will be one of three episodes released on the DVD entitled Doctor Who: Series 5, Volume 2 in the UK on July 5, 2010. The other two episodes on the DVD will be The Time Of Angels and Flesh And Stone. A release date for the US DVD (which will likely be of the complete fifth series rather than a few episodes at a time) has not yet been announced, but it will probably be released sometime in mid-to-late 2010.

May 4, 2010: Helen shares details about Doctor Who and Harry Potter
In an interview article posted today from What's On TV, Helen provides some details about her role as Rosanna Calvierri in Doctor Who: The Vampires Of Venice: "We find her as a matriarch running a school for girls at the time when The Plague has hit Venice. The school is for young women, seen as a haven of safety and disease-free for these young girls brought into it. As The Doctor arrives he begins to see why they're being taken into this school and my evil master-plan! ... There is actually a huge sympathy between the Doctor and [Rosanna Calvierri]. They’re both travellers and they’re both out of place where they are in the world." Helen also discusses Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows, which had not quite finished filming at the time of the interview: "I don't know if I'm going to be called in again but there's a few more months of filming. They have been filming these huge great battle scenes at the very end of the film, where Harry meets Voldermort. That takes weeks and weeks and weeks to film because there are hundreds of extras, and 48 main cast involved, and everyone in make-up. It takes a long time!" April 27, 2010: HBO releases preview video for The Special Relationship
HBO has posted a short promotional video for The Special Relationship on the network's official site for the film. Meanwhile, it's still not clear when or how the film will be presented in the UK. Some articles are stating that the film will receive a cinematic release in the UK on May 7, 2010. However, various UK film-release-date sites have no listing for it at all. So it seems that those articles touting that date are going by the IMDB listing, which is unsubstantiated and almost certainly erroneous. Also, a recent article in The Guardian stated that the film would be presented on BBC television sometime shortly after its May 29, 2010, premiere on HBO television in the US. If that information is accurate, the film is likely to be televised on BBC television in June. No date has been announced yet, however. As further details are announced, they will be posted here.
