Helen's Ginger Ninja Pops The Question

There was a special Valentine's Day zing in the air for actor Damian Lewis and his winsome girlfriend Helen McCrory yesterday: the couple have got engaged.

Unlikely heart-throb Damian -- who starred in the 2002 remake of The Forsyte Saga -- proposed to Helen over the weekend, and friends tell me that she did not hesitate to accept.

Damian, 35, who calls himself the Ginger Ninja, met Helen three years ago when they appeared together as lovers in a play in Islington, and began dating in real life soon after.

Says a friend: "Helen is a lovely person -- and a brilliant actress. We often say she is a Dame in the making. Lewis, too, is talented, but not nearly so easy-going." They do say opposites attract. ...
