The Daily Express, December 31, 2004 On-screen passion has turned to real-life romance for Band Of Brothers actor Damian Lewis and Thunderbirds star Sophia Myles. The pair play star-crossed lovers Nick and Lizzy in ITV 1's hotly anticipated war drama Colditz, and my exclusive picture shows them when they met during filming in Greenwich and the Czech Republic earlier this year. The £5 million, two-part drama, inspired by Henry Chancellor's book Colditz, follows the story of three soldiers who escape from prison camp at the start of the Second World War. Two, naive Jack Rose (Tom Hardy) and by-the-book Tom Willis (Laurence Fox), are caught by the Germans and taken to OFLAG 4C -- the forbidding Gothic prison fortress of Colditz on the Polish border. The third, ruthless Nick McGrade (Lewis), gets away. In London, he joins MI9, the organisation directed by Lt. Col. Fordham (James Fox) and escape gadget designer Richard Warren (Timothy West) which assists escapes. When news of Jack's capture is given to the prisoner's beautiful girlfriend Lizzy (Myles), a fateful love story begins. And the real-life lovers? A source tells me: "They're very happy." Colditz will be screened in March as part of ITV 1's commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the end of the war. |
