Valley Girls Catherine And Charlotte Show Fellow Celebs How To Party At Wales's All Star Golf Tournament
Hello, September 15, 2005 An eclectic array of stars from both sides of the Atlantic got into the swing of things at the 19th hole as Sky One's charity All Star Cup wrapped with a last-minute victory for the European side. The two-day celebrity golfing event, brain-child of TV presenters Ant and Dec, had obviously generated a collective high which culminated in a late-night karaoke session at the exclusive Celtic Manor Resort near Newport, South Wales. Even Catherine Zeta Jones, whose game had turned in her own words "ugly," threw herself into the wild festivities and put the tension produced by her golfing gaffes behind her. Despite her loss of confidence, there was enough expertise in the European team to take it to victory, which, when it finally came, was obviously felt to be something worth drinking to. Playing for the American side was Catherine's husband, Hollywood golfing fanatic Michael Douglas, who, having less to celebrate than his wife, reportedly repaired to bed at 10:30 pm leaving Catherine to party with a spirited gang of US and British golfers and their entourages, including fellow Valley girl Charlotte Church. Charlotte had come along to the event with her boyfriend Gavin Henson, rugby's golden boy and a reserve for the European team. The pair had spent the weekend enjoying VIP treatment as spectators before a serious fit of passion on the dancefloor earned them an audience of their own at the victory bash. Other antics included Robbie Williams mooning the 20,000-strong tournament crowd and Chris Evans's late-night rendition of Frank Sinatra's Fly Me To the Moon with event-organiser Ant. After four days partying in Wales, the media mogul was surprised to find he'd parted with the startling sum of £100,000. For Catherine Zeta Jones, meanwhile, it all ended with a dignified exit when her 60-year-old husband reappeared in the bar at 2 am and whispered in her ear. The celebrations, he seemed to be saying, had gone on long enough. |
