They're going to have to hurry up with the back story in Life (ITV3) because sadly this superior Damian Lewis cop caper hasn't made it past season two in the US, probably because The Mentalist has stolen its coppertop psychic thunder. It will be missed: last night's season opener featured a truly creepy serial killer turn from up and coming actor Noel Fisher (Eddie Izzard's son in The Riches), a boy with a smile that could turn you to stone. At one point he calls Lewis "Inspector Kumquat", which is the best gingerist gag I've heard in ages.
