Hanks In The Ranks
by Garry Johnson, The Sun TV Mag, November 17, 2001 There's a new kid on the block in this powerful and moving drama series set on the battlefiedls of the Second World War. Lieutenant Jones is played by Colin Hanks, son of Hollywood hotshot (and, fortunately for Colin, Band Of Brothers' co-producer) Tom. Colin joins an already strong cast, including Donnie (brother of Mark) Wahlberg as Lipton, Lock, Stock's Dexter Fletcher as Martin and Ron Livingston as Nixon. Jones enters the fray fresh from West Point US military acacemy. He's eager for combat experience, so he volunteers to lead an attack on the German border town of Haguenau. While successful, with prisoners taken, the mission costs another paratrooper's life, prompting sensitive Winters (Damian Lewis) to ignore the order to send a second patrol the next night. So, how will Lieutenant Jones cope with mutiny in the ranks? Caption: Damian Lewis, Colin Hanks and (below) Hanks Snr. |
