Nobody could accuse the BBC of dumbing down in recent weeks. It's already brought us the epic new drama Rome and the innovative history series Egypt. Now, starting on Monday night, it's reworking four of the most famous plays in theatrical history as part of its ShakespeaRe-Told series. The first is an imaginatively updated Much Ado About Nothing (BBC 1, 8:30 pm), which is set in a TV newsroom and stars Sarah Parish, Damian Lewis, Billie Piper and Tom Ellis. Other works revamped will be The Taming Of The Shrew, A Midsummer Night's Dream and, er, the Scottish play.
